Seasons of Life

As we are entering Christmas, it made me wonder about the seasons God also has made. He made a season for mourning, a season of prosperity, a season of joy, a season of waiting and many more (Ecclesiastes 3). But why do they exist and how can we trust God in the midst of it? Join us today as we discuss the seasons of life and how to understand their purpose.

So why does God allow seasons to happen? They exist mainly to grow and develop our relationship with the Lord. The Lord can give us anything that we desire according to His Will but what will we do once He answers our request? Do we turn to God only for help or do we seek Him continually?

Let us look at nature and see the seasons they go through. We have summer, winter, fall and spring. When we study nature, each season has a purpose and their benefits connect to each other.

Let us start with winter. Winter is a time where flowers and plants save their energy so can bloom in spring. Their seeds are also getting ready for blooming due to the nutrients the soil is creating because of the cold weather. Once winter is done, the plant is now ready to give its produce.

Spring is a time where plants start to bloom as a result of preparation during winter. By summer, plants are fully blossomed and is ready to give fruit to insects and birds. In the fall, plants will stop producing and will start preparing for winter. Animals will also start to gather food in preparation for winter and the cycle repeats again.

Just as each season has a purpose, God has a purpose for everything we go through. We may not understand everything, but God does whether it is good or bad. As we continue to spend time with Him, He will reveal why He has you in a specific season if you ask for it. For example, if you are waiting for an answer, He may put you in a waiting season to show your full dependency should be in Him which can grow your character. (Romans 5:3-4)

However, we should not only seek Him during through a hard season. We must seek Him at all times. If God has given a time of happiness and prosperity, we must not forget Him. In that season, God may be showing that He answers prayer and what our life will look like when you trust Him.

No matter what season you are in, God will use each one to strengthen your relationship with Him. The Lord must come first before everything else in your life for Him to reveal things to you. Even in a state of confusion, God wants you to talk to Him and to seek Him for clarity. We can be joyful even when times are hard because God will carry us through it all (Philippians 4:4). As long as He is with you, there is nothing to fear because nothing will be against you (Romans 8:31).

Thought for the week: What season are you in? What has the Lord been showing you and are there some areas you can improve?
